Family Court

Although in Cyprus the courts are generally notorious for their sluggish procedures, cases in the Family courts are generally concluded at a noticeably faster pace than other courts. Family judges encourage efforts to settle the cases but the parties and their lawyers must cooperate in order to have any chances for an early settlement. Social services play an important role in interviewing both parents and drafting reports to assist the decision making of the court and/or an out of court settlement. The average time it takes for family court cases to be completed has been reduced by recent changes in civil procedure rules combined with Secondary Family Court rulings.
